Construction - Day 6 of Filming

The fourth day of filming was not as productive as we planned as we seemed to encounter problem after problem after problem.

For example the tripod we had obtained was not funtioning properly as well as ginding out that the camera did not have a SD card in it. Fortunately Jeremiah had a spare Sd card so we were prepared to carry on production.

However this was not to be the case as when we reached our destiniation, we found out that the camera wasn't even charged hindering the progress we wanted to make. Also the weather was dreadful as it was raining so out of frustration we decided to postpone filming.

Construction - Day 3 of Editing

Our 3rd day of editing came after our 5th day of filming. This is because I felt we did not have enough clips to edit and we had also lost clips so we filmed as much as we could before editing. The 3rd day of editing proved to be one of the easiest. This was due to a lot of footage being filmed and none of the clips being corrupted like previously. All the clips were successfully loaded and ready to edit. This editing day involved me filling many of the blank spaces during the intro of the song. I used the additive dissolve transition for many of the clips as it is a very smooth transition and corresponds with the sombre tone of the song. The only problems that occurred were lip syncing the footage and song perfectly as Michael proved to have some difficulty doing this. However we were able to successfully lip sync the video even though it took a while. In the future we will this process will be easier as we would have time to practice it. After this day of editing we have successfully edited 1min 30sec but non-continuous. Our next days of filming will have involve filling in any blacks that are in our music video.

Construction - Day 5 Of Filming

Knowing that Day 4 was not as productive as expected, I decided that me and Michael should record the next day. This time we planned ahead so we were sure of what we were going to record. Our original plan was to go to the video setting at 9am so that we be ready to record for when the sun is out to match the scene of our music video. Once there I wanted to get the second verse completed seeing as we have already shot some footage for the first verse. We also had a back-up plan that if we experience any problems for whatever reason we would do some recording in-doors.

Due to short notice Byran could not attend this day's filming with us, so only me and Michael were present.  However, me and Michael agreed to taking the responsibility for Byran's absence because we didn't have enough time to inform him of our plans. Also I thought that it would be better to get the verses filmed first and move onto the choruses after, because the verses tend to take more time to be recorded, knowing that Michael has to remember the lyrics and the second verse is relatively longer than the chorus.

Unfortunately, in the morning of the day we were supposed to film (Thursday 19th January) there was heavy rainfall meaning that once again we couldn't record anything outside. However because we had planned in advance what we will do if this was to happen, me and Michael decided to get some in-door footage done.

This footage consists of the various verses that will be used as different cuts used during the editing stage of our video.

Construction - Day 4 of Filming

This day was quite mediocore in terms of productivity as there was only one task done.

Our final task for the day was to film over the motorway for a duration of 30mins which obviously would have been sped up during editing but that was also compromised. We had the tripod set and everything was fine until 15 minutes into the recording where there was a 10 minute period of strong winds were on several occasions the tripod was actually blown over and we had to catch it last minute. At the end we thought that the gust of wind had blown something off the tripod and we called it a day.

Construction - 2nd Progress Report

With only a few weeks until our music videos have to be completed unfortunately the group is falling behind. This is due to external forces such as clips not working. We have wasted a day of editing and filming which throws off our whole schedule as now we will have to film and edit on days that we did not plan on filming and editing on. I also feel that the group can work a bit harder as we reach the deadline as we need to ensure all the work is getting done. I feel that communication is becoming a problem within the group as group members often say that they are not sure on what they are meant to be doing also causing us to fall behind. On the positive side the standard to which the blog posts are completed are to a high standard. Also even though clips do not seem to be working our filming days have gone well as we have filmed a lot during these days. Moreover editing as also been to a high standard and successful on clips that have worked on our computer. We hope to meet the deadline for our coursework but this will mean working extremely hard and completing blog posts whenever we can.

Construction - Day 2 of Editing

The second day of editing proved to be a real task. We were not able to find a solution to the lag problem we had with our previous clips. This caused us to refilm the footage. However we still encountered another a problem as these clips were also faulty. But instead of lag the footage did not play all together. This meant that the second day of editing did not happen as there was nothing to edit. Instead we just fixed up the clips that we already edited. We will have to refilm again the clips that did not work causing us to fall behind in our project.

Construction - 1st Progress Report 2011

With 1 month left until we are due to hand in our coursework, i am going to review what we have done so far and what we have left to do.

Firstly we have improved as a group compared to last year as we hardly had anything done at this same point last year whereas this year we have a number of tasks completed. However this does not mean there is time to slack as we are still missing the key components to the coursework. For example we have not finished our website or our master catalog which accounts towards many points to our coursework.

I feel that that this can be changed if we show more determination in this last month and have a goal set out to finish the coursework atleat a week before the deadline and not on the day as it was last year. Also i feel that some members can use time at break or lunch to complete outstanding work to ensure that we get as many marks as we can. Apart from this, we have completed the radio spot, our research and our music video analysis. It may not seem like much yet but it is a long step towards a good grade as long as we carry on how we ended the year and started this year.

Construction - Day 3 of Filming

The third day of filming stated during the Christmas holidays on the 28th. We chose this date to allow the whole group to have a rest from the long term we had just had and to also allow group members to have time off for the festive holidays. On the day only Me and Jeremiah were present but we did not tell Byran we were filming by accident due to short notice.

As you may know we had problems changing the frame rate of some of our clips due to the fact of recording it with a HD camera. As a result the clips looked caused a lot of lag in adobe premiere which would have made it hard for us to sink it with the vocals. This is why we decided to as well film more scenes, we also re-recorded the clips that caused lag in premiere to see the difference.

We stated pretty early around 11 and thought that we had a good few hours to get some work done but that proved not to be the case. With clear weather on the 27th we were unaware that the weather would change the next day as it started raining quite heavily during filming we we had to have an interval and had several after that due to the persistent rain which annoyed me and Jeremiah.

After all that i would say that day of filming was below average and we were both disappointed with it due to the countless of times being halted by weather as we knew we could get a lot of work done. The plus side is that we were able to record some things but that day taught us that when choosing a day to film we must not underestimate the weather as that could also be a factor that affects filming.
